2020 FEL Pinot Noir, Heritage Clones, Anderson Valley

available
This is the second vintage of this newer bottling of Savoy, a blend designed to capture the striking nature of the younger plantings of California “heritage clones” at Savoy. The primary fruit aromatics of pomegranate, blood orange, and black cherry are bold. The palate is structured and concentrated with fig, clove, and cocoa. We love the way this wine weaves together both the bright and dark qualities of our beloved estate.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Our estate, Savoy Vineyard, long recognized as a benchmark vineyard in Anderson Valley, is located in the “Deep End” of the valley, west of the town of Philo. The maritime influence and moderate daytime temperatures contribute to the wine’s elegant flavor profile and silky tannins. This blend is a barrel selection from subsections of the vineyard that showcase the most striking qualities of California’s heritage clones. This vintage is made up of five barrels of Mt Eden, Calera, and Swan clones from younger blocks of the vineyard.
Production Notes
The fruit was picked on August 24th and 31st at 23.8° Brix and fermented in a stainless steel tank. The wine spent a total of twelve days on skins, with minimal punchdowns, and a peak fermentation temperature of 90°F.
